Postpartum Depression (PPD) vs. Baby Blues
Many new moms experience “baby blues” after childbirth, which involves mood swings, crying spells, anxiety, and difficulty sleeping. Baby blues typically begin within the first two to three days after birth and last no more than two weeks. Symptoms resolve on their own and don’t interfere with your ability to care for yourself and your baby.
Postpartum depression on the other hand can begin at any time during pregnancy or the first year after birth and can last much longer, especially when it goes untreated. If you are more than two weeks postpartum and feel that being a mother is overwhelming and it’s hard to keep your head above water, you may be experiencing postpartum depression.
If you are experiencing PPD, you are not alone and you deserve support.
At Her Space Therapy, we have helped many women overcome postpartum depression and feel more grounded and confident as a parent. We have specialized training to help you find your footing and feel hopeful again.

Birth Trauma and Postpartum PTSD
A traumatic birth experience can lead to symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). If you are feeling constantly on edge and frequently reliving your negative experience through flashbacks and/or nightmares, you may be suffering from PTSD.
Postpartum Anxiety Disorders
Postpartum anxiety and postpartum OCD can also leave you feeling overwhelmed and make it difficult for you to care for yourself and your baby. If you are finding it difficult to turn your brain off and relax due to high amounts of worry, obsessive thoughts or compulsions, therapy can help. Learn more here.
